NGX – Listed Equities
On Wednesday, amidst weaker trading activity and positive sentiment, the domestic bourse traded positively, reversing the losses recorded in the previous session and reaching an all-time high.
The All-Share Index rose by 56 basis points to close at 114,659.11 points, up from 114,017.48 points on the prior trading day. Consequently, the year-to-date return increased to 11.40%.
Investors gained N404.58bn with market capitalisation closing at N72.30trn due to renewed investors’ interest in BETAGLAS (+10.00%), BERGER (+9.98%), FIDSON (+9.91%), OANDO (+6.32%), CADBURY (+5.41%), CUSTODIAN (+4.55%), DANGCEM (+4.50%), MTNN (+3.23%), TRANSCORP (+1.11%), ACCESSCORP (+0.68%), DANGSUGAR (+0.50%), and 19 others.
Market sentiment closed bullish, with 30 gainers compared to 28 losers. ABCTRANS and BETAGLAS led the gainers’ list, while ABBEYBDS topped the losers’ list.
Meanwhile, BERGER, FIDSON, and CAVERTON traded above their 52-week highs at N24.80, N34.95, and N4.30.
The total volume traded decreased by 27.81% to close at 471.15m, valued at N14.19bn and transacted in 20,538 deals. FCMB closed with the highest volume, with 40.29m units traded, while SEPLAT closed with the highest value, amounting to N1.62bn.
Volume and Value Contribution
FCMB was the most traded in volume, with an 8.55% share, while UBA and ACCESSCORP followed closely with 7.76% and 7.44%, respectively.
SEPLAT contributed the most in value traded, with an 11.44% share, while ZENITHBANK and MTNN followed closely.
NASD OTC Exchange – Unlisted Equities
Conversely, the NASD Securities Index (NSI) closed negatively, down 0.32% at 3,337.48 points from the 3,348.25 points recorded on Tuesday.
The total volume traded was 3.40m units, valued at N13.02m, across 45 deals.
At the close of trading, the NASD OTC recorded three (3) gainers and one (1) loser.
Global Indices

COMMODITIES MARKET
AFEX Indices
On Wednesday, the AFEX ACI was down 0.11% to close at N61.55, while AEI closed flat at N78.44.
AFEX Commodity Prices
At the AFEX Commodity Market on Wednesday, paddy rice appreciated 0.51% to close at N640.77, while soybeans and maize fell 0.88% and 0.26% to close at N880.91 and N452.68, respectively.
Global Commodity Prices
The global commodity market was largely bullish as of 2:28 PM GMT on Wednesday. Gold increased 0.35% to close at US$3,333.98, while Silver decreased 0.77% to close at $36.25.
Brent and WTI crude futures increased 2.06% and 2.51% to close at $68.25 and $66.61 as US President Donald Trump said a deal had been down with China, heightening expectations of a de-escalation in trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies.
CURRENCY/ FX MARKET
Average BDC rates appreciated 0.32% from N1,580/USD to N1,575/USD, while the NAFEM rate closed at N1,540.05/USD on Tuesday.
