President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has approved the appointment of Mr. Opeyemi Agbaje as the Chairman of the Board of the National Pension Commission (PENCOM).
The National Pension Commission is the regulator for Nigeria’s Pension Industry, which currently manages over N23 trillion in assets and has over 10 million contributors across the country.
After a successful banking and financial services career, Mr. Agbaje founded RTC Advisory Services Ltd, a leading strategy, policy, economy, and business advisory firm, in 2004.
RTC Advisory Services Ltd has worked with leading institutions, including banks and financial institutions, multinationals and conglomerates, state governments and federal government agencies and departments, and businesses across different sectors, including payments, FINTECHS, real estate, technology and communications, manufacturing and FMCGs, and multilateral institutions.
Agbaje is a policy strategist, analyst, lawyer, and governance expert with over 3 decades of experience in consulting and strategy for State Governments, multinational corporations, and organizations.
He is also a public policy analyst who has featured in several notable mainstream national and international media platforms, providing deep insights on policies, socio-economic development, financial market integration, and governance.
His work experience spans several banks, including First Bank of Nigeria Plc and GTBank, where he rose from Banking Officer to Assistant General Manager by 1998.
He left the banking industry in June 2004 as an Executive Director. His banking sector experience covered consumer and private banking, commercial and corporate/institutional banking, financial institutions, and correspondent banking, and retail financial services.
He exercised supervisory purview over a capital market subsidiary of a bank and served as Chief Risk Officer.
He holds a Master’s Degree in both Law (from the University of Lagos in 1989) and an MBA from IESE Business School, Spain in 1997.
He is a member of the global Strategic Management Society USA and holds the merit award of the Igbobi College Old Boys Association (ICOBA) awarded in 2019 for Professional Excellence and the Gathering of Africa’s Best (GAB) Award for Excellence in Consultancy Services presented in London, United Kingdom in 2013.
