El-Rufai Back in Court as Bail Proceedings StartKaduna State former governor, Nasir El-Rufai

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, is currently at the Federal High Court in Kaduna for the continuation of the hearing on his bail application.

The former governor arrived at the court at about 9 a.m. on Wednesday amid tight security.

The hearing follows Tuesday’s adjournment by the presiding judge, Justice Rilwan Aikawa, due to a series of legal developments between the defence and prosecution teams.

El-Rufai ‘s lawyers, led by Ubong Akpan, had initially filed a motion asking the presiding judge to step aside over alleged bias, but later withdrew the request—leading to procedural delays.

The prosecution also submitted a counter-affidavit opposing bail, leaving the defence with limited time to respond, which contributed to the adjournment of the case to Wednesday for continuation.

Ahead of the hearing, security around the court has been beefed up by a combined team of policemen and personnel of the Department of State Services.

El-Rufai is currently facing multiple charges, including alleged fraud, money laundering, and unlawful possession of public funds, filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)
