PGF Dismisses Uzodimma’s Removal As ChairmanA file photo of Governor Hope Uzodimma

The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has rejected reports claiming that Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma was removed as chairman of the forum.

The forum described these claims as false, misleading, and unfounded.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Director General of the Forum, Folorusho Aluko, emphasized that no meeting took place to discuss such a decision, affirming that Uzodimma continues to serve as the legitimate chairman of the organization.

The forum stated that the report being circulated on some media platforms was entirely fabricated, stressing that the PGF Secretariat had no record of any resolution or discussion concerning the removal of the chairman.

“The Forum remains united, focused, and committed to its responsibilities,” the statement read.

The PGF, therefore, urged members of the public, party faithful, and the media to disregard the report in its entirety, maintaining that Governor Uzodimma continues to enjoy the confidence and support of governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The rebuttal follows speculative reports circulating late Thursday, May 7, which claimed that a faction of governors had convened at the Ogun State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja to vote for a change in leadership, citing a “loss of confidence.”

A Call for Media Responsibility

The PGF urged media practitioners and the general public to verify sensitive political information with the Forum’s official Secretariat before publication.

The statement noted that at a time when the party is focused on economic stabilization and national growth, “fake news” serves only as a needless distraction.

The Progressive Governors Forum remains steadfast in its mission to promote good governance across APC-led states and to ensure the continuous victory and supremacy of the party at all levels.
