The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with Boss A1 Global LTD, has successfully concluded a 2-week intensive training on Bag Making and Fashion Design for 50 women in Akwa Ibom State.
The program, which started 2 weeks ago and ended today, was aimed at equipping women with practical skills in fashion and accessories production to promote self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment in line with the Nigerian Content agenda.
Participants were trained on pattern drafting, cutting, sewing techniques, bag design and fabrication, material selection, finishing, branding, and marketing. The training also included modules on costing, customer relations, and business management to help the beneficiaries start and sustain viable fashion businesses.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, a representative of NCDMB said the initiative reflects the Board’s commitment to diversifying skills and creating livelihood opportunities for Nigerians, especially women and youths, outside the oil and gas sector.
The company rep from Boss A1 Global LTD commended the participants for their dedication and creativity throughout the training. He noted that with the skills acquired, the women can now produce quality, market-ready bags and fashion items to meet local and export demands.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to NCDMB and Boss A1 Global LTD, describing the training as impactful and timely. Many said they are ready to launch their own brands and contribute to the growth of the state’s fashion industry.
As part of the program, all 50 participants received starter packs including sewing materials, bag-making tools, branded items, certificates of completion, and financial support to enable them to start their businesses immediately.
