Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) has announced plans to raise US$250m in Additional Tier 1 (AT1) capital through a private placement of contingent convertible notes.
This follows shareholder approval at its Extraordinary General Meeting held on May 28, 2025, in Lomé, Togo.
According to the release signed by Madibinet Cisse, the Company Secretary, the Additional Tier 1 issuance opened on July 9, 2025, for ten days, with Renaissance Capital Africa appointed as the transaction adviser.
The bank stated that the proposed capital raise is a strategic move to strengthen its capital adequacy, enhance financial resilience, and support its long-term growth ambitions across its pan-African banking operations.
