NGX – Listed Equities
The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), on Wednesday, closed bearish, reversing the whole gain recorded in the previous session as investors took profit in ETI (-9.90%), PZ (-9.88%), UNILEVER (-9.75%), UBA (-2.58%), FIRSTHOLDCO (-2.38%), GTCO (-1.74%), TRANSCORP (-0.87%), LAFARGE (-0.35%) and 15 others,
As such, the NGXASI dipped 18 basis points to close at 104,187.00 points, down from 104,376.73 points on Tuesday, while investors lost N119.22bn as Market capitalisation decreased to N65.47trn, while the year-to-date return decreased to 1.22%.
Amidst the market downtick, the market breadth closed positively at 0.12x, with 31 gainers against 23 losers and 69 unchanged equities. LIVESTOCK and VFDGROUP both led the gainers’ list, while HMCALL and LEARNAFRCA topped the losers’ chart.
Meanwhile, NGXGROUP traded above its 52-week high at N35.65 while it held its AGM, while OMATEK traded below its 52-week low at N0.53.
The total volume traded declined by 18.23% to close at 376.62m, valued at N11.89bn and traded in 11,576 deals. GTCO was the most traded stock by volume and value, with 62.88m units traded, worth 4.10bn.
Volume and Value Contribution
GTCO was the most traded in volume, with a 16.70% share, while ACCESSCORP and ZENITHBANK followed closely with 13.64% and 8.58%, respectively.
GTCO contributed the most in value traded, with a 34.45% share, while ZENITHBANK and MTNN followed closely.
2. NASD OTC Exchange – Unlisted Equities
The NASD Securities Index (NSI) also closed bearish, down 0.10% to close Wednesday at 3,277.39 points from 3,280.63 points recorded on Tuesday.
The total volume traded was 185,449 units, valued at N2.65m, in 11 deals.
At the close of trading, the NASD OTC market recorded zero (0) gainers and two (2) losers.
3. Global Indices
The global indices performed negatively on Wednesday, with Brazil’s Bovespa at the top of the chart.
4. COMMODITIES MARKET
AFEX Indices

AFEX Commodity Prices
On Wednesday, the AFEX Commodity Market saw paddy rice, maize, cocoa, and soybeans increase by 4.76%, 4.76%, 4.41%, and 0.88%, respectively, to close at N611.05, N571.97, N10,934.00, and N982.50. Click here to access more data on AFEX commodity prices.
Global Commodity Prices
The global commodity market had a balanced performance as of 2:15 PM GMT on Wednesday. Gold and Silver increased 3.14% and 2.05% to close at US$3,074.22 and $30.41, respectively.
Brent and WTI crude futures were down 3.65% and 3.69% to close at $60.53 and $57.38, respectively, hitting fresh four-year lows, after China announced additional tariffs on U.S. goods in retaliation against President Donald Trump’s tariff policy.
4. CURRENCY/ FX MARKET
