NGX – Listed Equities
The equities market on NGX closed Thursday on a bullish note, extending the gains recorded in the previous session as investors’ wealth increased to N403.43bn, with market capitalisation closing at N76.58trn.
The upward trend was driven by investors’ interest in BERGER (+10.00%), UNILEVER (+9.96%), CADBURY (+9.90%), UHOMREIT (+9.45%), OANDO (+6.97%), DANGSUGAR (+5.62%), SKYAVN (+4.90%), CUSTODIAN (+3.69%), GTCO (+3.44%), UBA (+2.81%), UCAP (+2.21%), LAFARGE (+2.05%), TRANSCORP (+1.75%), ZENITHBANK (+1.75%), NB (+1.61%), NASCON (+1.37%), STANBIC (+1.20%), NGXGROUP (+0.45%), and 36 others.
The ASI gained 53 basis points to close at 120,977.20 points, up from 120,339.90 points on the previous trading day. Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return increased to 17.54%.
The market sentiment closed bullish, with 54 gainers compared to 14 decliners. ACADEMY, BERGER, DEAPCAP, and GUINEAINS led the gainers’ list, while NEIMETH topped the losers’ list.
Meanwhile, ACADEMY, BERGER, UNILEVER, FTNCOCOA, UPDC, and JAPAULGOLD also traded above their 52-week highs at N5.61, N33.00, N56.85, N4.86, N4.31, and N2.99, respectively, while VFDGROUP traded below its 52-week low at N13.50.
The total traded volume declined by 11.05% to close at 933.40m, valued at N29.31bn in 24,207 deals.
UNIVINSURE closed with the highest volume, with 67.33m units traded, while SEPLAT closed with the highest value at N13.56bn.
Volume and Value Contribution
UNIVINSURE was the most traded equity in terms of volume, contributing 7.21% of the total volume traded, while ACCESSCORP and CHAMS followed with 6.71% and 6.40% of daily traded volume.
SEPLAT saw the highest traded value, with a 46.27% share of the total value contribution, while GTCO and NB followed closely.
NASD OTC Exchange – Unlisted Equities
Similarly, the NASD Securities Index (NSI) closed bullish, up 0.07% to close at 3,392.00 points from 3,389.71 points recorded on Wednesday.
The total volume traded was 425,567 units, valued at N22.88m, across 34 deals.
At the close of trading, the NASD OTC recorded two (2) gainers and two (2) losers.

At the AFEX Commodity Market on Thursday, sorghum, paddy rice and cashew increased by 3.52%, 0.59% and 0.29% to close at N561.80, N603.39 and N1,725, respectively, while maize and soybeans fell 6.93% and 0.10% to close at N452.25 and N896.15.
Global Commodity Prices
At the global commodity market, Gold fell 0.64% to close at US$3,327.23, while Silver rose 0.66% to close at US$36.73.
Brent and WTI crude futures fell 0.32% and 0.40% to close at US$68.89 and US$67.18, as of 2:25 PM GMT on Thursday, as the possibility of U.S. tariffs being reinstated raised questions about demand ahead of an expected supply boost by major producers.
CURRENCY/ FX MARKET
Average BDC rates depreciated 0.32% from N1,555/US$ to N1,560/US$, while the NAFEM rate closed at N1,526.16/US$ on Wednesday.
